Farewell to Placencia

So... tomorrow at sparrows I leave for Trek Stop near St Ignacio in Cayo District. I am looking forward to this leg of my journey after listening to Kraig and Barbara and seeing their photos. I will be seeing Larry Wellington too. I haven't been in contact with him since Belize last February.

I have been at Sea Spray Hotel for 18 days and have loved every minutes except for when I had the heavy de-tox at the beginning. Since then not even a headache.

I also met some super people - Paul and Gaetan at the Boson's Chair and Brad and his girlfriend to name just a few. All of them are from Vancouver Island. The Staff here have been great and I am definitely coming back here.

The Higgs boson is a hypothetical massive scalar elementary particle predicted to exist by the Standard Model of particle physics. It is the only Standard Model particle not yet observed, but would help explain how otherwise massless elementary particles still manage to construct mass in matter. In particular, it would explain the difference between the massless photon and the relatively massive W and Z bosons. Elementary particle masses, and the differences between electromagnetism (caused by the photon) and the weak force (caused by the W and Z bosons), are critical to many aspects of the structure of microscopic (and hence macroscopic) matter; thus, if it exists, the Higgs boson has an enormous effect on the world around us.

As of 2008, no experiment has directly detected the existence of the Higgs boson, though the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN is hoped to be able to detect the Higgs boson.

But of course you all knew that.

Hasta la vista! Hamba gahle! Totsiens. Bye for now. Next post from Cayo.

  2. The place where the bus driver dropped you off in error is very near the property owned by our friend Ruby...as seen in our blog!
