Back in Paradise

Well after the horrendous events - to me - of the past few weeks and thanks to Barbara, I made a few decisions today about the rest of my stay in Belize, Tonight I treated myself to a meal of freshly caught baked snapper with salads and mashed potatoes accompanied by Thousand Island salad cream and Marie Sharp's Fiery Hot Habanero Pepper Suace, all washed down with a couple of bottles of Cerveja preta as we called it in Mozambique. The sun was setting over the azure blue Caribbean and the moon was rising in a cloudless blue sky, heralding whale shark sighting season. These huge creatures that can be up to 60 feet in length are the focal point of most divers at the moment.

The scene on the beach reminded me very much of Beira in Mozambique in my younger days and the smells of the sea and the fresh breeze reminded me of days gone by. All that was missing was the 3M beer and the fresh prawns and curried chicken livers and Portuguese bread of Beira.

Why should I waste this next three weeks? Here I am in Paradise. I have three weeks left before I return to gloomy old Blighty. I must make the most of it.

Tomorrow I head out to sea to go look at an inner nursery reef that I can swim out to. It was described to me by an Alaskan lady I met. If it is all she thought, then I will buy an underwater camera and go again on Sunday morning and hopefully take some photos, which I will post after developing in England.

Then on Tuesday I head north towards Mexico and Northern Belize, where I will explore the Corozal Province.

I feel more relaxed than at any time since I met Pig Farmer Mike in San Ignacio. I am sure looking forward to the next few days and weeks.

    Hi Rob,
I must have missed something between the Mar 31 and April 18 posts. What terrible things happened? Are you ok? Why are you returning to England? Will you be returning to Belize? Catch me up, please.
    Take Care,
    Karen T
