Ray Quinn ~ Dancing on Ice

This inspired me this weekend. Ray is a singer and entertainer. He started Ice Skating a few months ago. He is an accomplished dancer and roller blader. He is now the current British Dancing on Ice Champion.

For those of you who haven't heard of this show. ITV invite prominent sports people, entertainers, newscasters etc. who have never skated before, or if they have, only as children. They contract some of the world's best professional skaters to train them over a period of several weeks and then put on a live show each week. The public can vote for their favourite each week but the final decision rests with the judges who have to select from the lowest scoring two amateurs.

The main teachers are Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean, who won the 1984 Winter Olympics Gold Medal for figure skating in Yugoslavia with a routine skated to the tune "Bolero." Fittingly the last dance to decide the winner from the final two is their interpretation of that now famous routine. The following videos are the last three dances performed by Ray Quinn and his partner, Bulgarian professional Maria Flippov, although the second video was taken when they performed it a few weeks ago.
.
Take the time to watch all three videos ~ they are worth it ~ when he "flew" he suffered during training from motion sickness but stuck it out. This is a trouper in the old fashioned mould!
